Jim has over 20 years of defense experience defending ‘clients in cases involving premises, transportation, property damage and civil rights Section 1983 claims. He has successfully won summary judgment for his clients, and succeeded in upholding these dismissals on numerous appeals. He has extensive experience on issues concerning notice in the premises liability context and in questions regarding plaintiff’s satisfaction of the “serious injury” no-fault threshold in automotive and trucking cases.

Prior to coming to the firm, he defended multinational industrial conglomerates in products liability and toxic tort cases. His experience in defending foreign and out of state clients has resulted in successful motions to dismiss premised on lack of personal jurisdiction and expiration of statutes of limitations periods.

Jim makes time to indulge his interests in European and American history, art and philosophy. He is an avid reader and believes knowing the past is the best way to understand the present.

Originally from Youngstown, Ohio, Mr. Kimmel is a graduate of The Ohio State University and earned his law degree from New York Law School in 2002.
